윗세오름은 한라산을 제외하고 가장 높은 오름으로, 어리목, 영실, 돈내코 코스를 이용하여 등반할 수 있습니다. 윗세오름은 3개의 오름을 통칭하는데 윗세오름 휴게소와 백록담 사이에 붉은오름, 휴게소에서 영실코스방향으로 누운오름, 민오름과 백록담 동남벽을 전망할 수 있는 전망대가 서치된 족은오름을 통칭합니다. 누운오름 아래는 연중 물이 흐르는 노루샘이 있고 백리향, 흰그늘용담, 설맹초 등이 자라는 고원습지가 있습니다. 윗세오름에서는 한라산 백록담을 볼 수는 없지만, 웅장한 백록담 동벽과 남벽을 감상할 수 있습니다. 윗세오름을 가장 쉽게 등산하는 방법은 영실탐방로를 이용하는 것이며, 영실휴게소부터 약 1시간 반 정도 올라가면 평야 같은 선작지왓을 만납니다. 윗세오름 등반 계획 시 최소 5시간 정도의 시간적 여유를 갖고 계획을 세우는 것이 좋습니다. 이곳은 계절별로 다양한 야생화들이 피는데 해발 1천 미터가 넘는 곳에서 만난 평야는 평온하기까지 하다는 평가를 받고 있습니다.

주변 관광지로는 김녕해수욕장, 용천동굴, 당처물 동굴, 만장굴 등이 있습니다.

While living on Jeju Island for over 5 years, I always looked at Hallasan Mountain from below and never thought about climbing it...A friend who is native to Jeju Island said that you can't climb Mt. Halla, you can see it from below...Really? HahaI was thinking of going to the top of Baeknokdam, but I'm not physically fit, so I decided to go to the Yeongsil course, which I found to be easier!!!As long as you pass the steep stairs course on the way up, you will reach a flat section that even beginners can trek with ease!What about the scenery? What can I say? Photos don’t do it justice. You have to see this in real life.The weather was cloudy so I couldn't see that far, but this is another art. The feeling of walking on clouds and the scenery where the clouds surround the strangely shaped rocks is a work of art!There is also a spring where you can drink water! Try the clean underground water of Hallasan Mountain! It tastes a little sweeter(?) than Samdasoo! There is a water bottle, so you can take it with you!

Best choice!I arrived around 10:30.There was a line of cars starting from the first entrance, so I parked in parking lot 1 and walked up!It was okay for me, but it must have been quite difficult for the kids and my wife! After walking for about an hour, we arrived at the entrance to the trail.If you use parking lot 1, I highly recommend waiting and taking a taxi!From officially entering the mountain, past Byeongpungbawi Rock, and up to Witse Oreum, it was truly spectacular!The weather was sleepy and the wind was quite chilly, so it was good for walking!It's so magical to have clouds under your feet!

I went up on a weekday at the end of January when there was unusually heavy snow in Jeju. The snow stopped and the weather improved like crazy, so there were so many tourists that the 1100 road was closed the day before, and there were definitely no seats in the parking lot, so I decided to use the bus.There are two courses to climb Witse Oreum: the Eorimok course, close to Jeju City, and the Yeongsil course, close to Seogwipo City.Since the two places have different hiking times, slopes, and scenery, I chose the bus to fully enjoy both courses rather than going to one side and coming back down.Fortunately, bus number 240, which travels to Seogwipo via 1100 Road, stops at both Jeju Bus Terminal about an hour apart.You have to walk a bit to get to the starting point of the hike, but it's not very far.I waited at Halla Hospital for the bus to leave the terminal at 8:20. But for some reason... the bus that arrived was already full... I insisted on leaving only a few hikers waiting ahead of me... I was supposed to meet my group at the Yeongsil ticket office, so I hurried to the terminal and took the next bus.We safely arrived at the Yeongsil ticket office, and indeed, there were so many hikers despite the snow and clear weather, even though it was a weekday. From babies to students, families, etc.I think it took about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Yeongsil to the Ttse Oreum Shelter. There are sections with moderate slopes, and the road is completely covered with snow, so crampons are absolutely essential.I don't really like mountains, but Hallasan Mountain covered in snow looks really fantastic. There aren't enough words to express it, so it just feels like I'm in a live-action version of Frozen.Even if it is not winter, there is an incredible view of Jeju City, Seogwipo city, and the sea.You have to make a reservation, and Hallasan Mountain, which has a very long course, is a bit burdensome, but the hiking time, scenery, and accessibility are all good here.However, I wasn't able to go to the Nambyeok Junction, which is an hour away from the shelter, because the lockdown started at 2 o'clock. I'll wait until next time.The descent came down to Eorimok, but this one had a lower slope and felt like the time was shorter. The Yeongsil course feels like climbing a mountain, but this feels like climbing a hill with a forest? Anyway, you should go to both.I came down and waited for the bus, but there were already a lot of people waiting. But the person ahead of me couldn't get on the bus first... so many people came from Yeongsil and passed by, so that's why. He said his group called a taxi and they were waiting for a long time.I probably won't be able to catch the next bus, so rather than waiting in the cold, I thought it would be better to take a bus to Seogwipo and go to Jeju City on another bus. When I looked at the timetable, I saw that the last bus to Seogwipo had already left.As expected, the next bus to Jeju came full, filled some empty seats, and departed.Meanwhile, some people who couldn't get on were angry at Jeju City for not increasing the number of buses on days like this haha.In the end, I caught the last train and returned to the city safely.If you want to go to Witse Oreum in winter by bus, hike from Eorimok and come down to Yeongsil.Also, bus times are different in winter and summer, so be sure to check the bus schedule carefully.I plan to go again next time it snows. It was that good!

Beautiful scenery and nice immersing in the nature. Just beware that it's about 1.5hrs of steps up! It's worth it though.
