21.8.22. 21.10.18Yaeun is a seowon built during the reign of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty to commemorate the loyalty of Giljae. Later, memorial tablets for Kim Jong-jik, Jeong Bong, Park Yeong, and Jang Hyeon-gwang were added, and it took on the role of ancestral rites and local education. There are Jeonghakdang, Dongjae, Study, and Eupcheongru.Jeonghakdang and Sanghyeonmyo Shrine were recently designated as national treasures. When you enter the school gate, Eupcheongru, there is an east and a study on the left and right, and on the opposite side is Jeonghakdang, which is a classroom with Geumoh Seowon written on it.There are 7 things that are prohibited there...1. No graffiti on windows/walls 2. Handle books with care 3. Be diligent in your studies 4. Observe public etiquette5. Do not be greedy for alcohol or food 6. Have a conversation, be polite7. Dress neatlyIf you turn to the left of Eupcheongru and climb Seowon Dam-gil, you will reach a forest path leading to an observatory.

Geumoh Seowon was built to commemorate the scholarship and loyalty of Yaeun Giljae (1353-1419) of the Goryeo Dynasty. It was first built on Geumosan Mountain in 1570, the 3rd year of King Seonjo's reign, but it was burned down during the Japanese invasions of Korea and was moved here in 1602, the 35th year of King Seonjo's reign. In addition to Giljae, the memorial tablets of five people, including Kim Jong-jik, Jeong Bung, Park Young, and Jang Hyeon-gwang, are enshrined here. When you go up the stairs to the Geumoseowonae building, the Eupcheongru, Jeonghakdang, where academic lectures are held, and the Sanghyeonmyo, where the counterfeit notes of Mr. Giljae and others are enshrined and held for ancestral rites, are arranged in a straight line. To the left and right of Jeonghakdang are the dormitories, Dongjae and Study. Geumoh Seowon is currently designated as Gyeongsangbuk-do Monument No. 60, but Jeonghakdang and Sanghyeonmyo were designated as treasures on December 28, 2020.To the left of the stairs leading to Eupcheongru is the Geumoseowon Green Road, through which you can see the beacon reservoir and observatory.

Sorry to say it is in sad shape for well deserved private institution. Surprised to see that it lacks few buildings to complete the school based on all others. There isn't enough ground to accommodate them! Was it like this all along?
