1895년 전라도 최초의 천주교 성당인 양림공소가 세워진 이래 일제강점기와 한국전쟁 당시 중요한 역사적 사건들이 벌어진 곳입니다.

It is a small, hip village that I would recommend to those who come to Gwangju from other places like me to visit. Perhaps because I arrived after 6pm after work, there were quite a few stores that were closed.I would like to visit again during busy times during the day on the weekend.

Visited on the afternoon of June 9, 2023This is my first time touring Gwangju’s modern and contemporary history. I came across Yangnim-dong the day before yesterday while looking for information for a visit to Gwangju and immediately wanted to visit. It was really hot during the day. After lunch, I started moving at 2pm, but I was tired from walking all the way from Culture Complex Station. I walked for about 4 hours. I think it would be nice to take a walk all day during the cooler season. There are so many pretty cafes. I arrived at Choi Seung-hyo's old house at 5:40, but it was already closed.Yangnim Village Story Hall (Yangnim Cultural Village Entrance) - Art Travel Center - Black Tail Burger (lunch) - Penguin Village - Owen Memorial Hall (Gwangju Yangnim Church, Christian Nursing College) - Avison Memorial Hall - Garage - Huntley House - Holly Tree Art Center (on display of works featuring fire) - Missionary Woo Il-seon's residence - Eugene Bell Missionary Memorial Hall - Kim Hyeon-seung's monument - Lee Jang-woo's house - Choi Seung-hyo's old house... I had a good time. I made up my mind to get a stamp while traveling like this, but the stamp information was very poor. I never saw the stamp. Why stamp without using a smartphone camera?That part was a bit disappointing.

I visited this place because it was included three times in the ‘2023-2024 Korea Tourism Top 100’, a representative tourist attraction in Korea jointly announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.From Gwangju Songjeong Station, take the subway right in front and get off at Culture Complex Station and walk down the alley for about 15 minutes.At the entrance, a sign that reads “Yangnim, a village of love and art, a beautiful trace of light left by time” stands out.Contrary to its reputation, there don't seem to be many old Hanok buildings, and although the village is said to have been built with a penguin theme, it has no special features other than a few sculptures and murals.There are just a lot of old props on display, two nostalgic pastry shops, and a few experience points.Fortunately, there is no entrance fee.

Good here. In Yangnim-dong, Gwangju, the entire village was turned into an art museum with penguins as the theme. There are pottery workshops and leather workshops everywhere, and the old tile-roofed houses are tastefully decorated, attracting many artists. The village is being transformed into an art museum.
