Myeongdong Gyoza

Myeong-dong Gyoza, which opened in 1966 as Myeong-dong Kalguksu and has been operating for more than 50 years, is a restaurant specializing in Kalguksu located near Myeong-dong Cathedral. Kalguksu, a traditional Korean noodle dish, is one of everyone’s favorite menus, and Myeong-dong Gyoza is a restaurant that has maintained its best position for more than 50 years with such a menu. The representative menu of Myeong-dong Gyoza is kalguksu, where you can taste the deep taste with the rich and thick soup and soft noodles. The hearty meat and vegetables that are garnished on the kalguksu add to the taste of kalguksu. Dumplings, which are richly ground with ingredients in thin blood, are also an indispensable delicacy, and menus such as bibim-guksu and kong-guksu are also prepared.

Famous with its noodle and dumpling, this restaurant only have 4 menus which are noodle soup, spicy noodle, dumpling, and the soy bean noodle which was not available when I was there. So we did order the other three, and yes, they all tasted delightful. Very rich in taste and flavorful.I am well aware of its fame and to avoid the crown, we came early before the dinner time and there was no queue. Not long after we got a table, people started to come and when I finished the restaurant was full already. The serving time was quick and the price was considered friendly. Is this place worth trying? Certainly! Especially when you are in Myeongdong area and it is your first visit. But, I believe there are lots of other good places which serves noodles and dumpling.

The exact location of this location is NOT here. It has moved to the Main Street along L7 and Sejong hotels. It’s considered as fast food. Pay before you get your food, it’s sent to you within 2-3 min. Sometimes by the waitress or by the robot. The noodle is cooked just fine, not too soggy even if they pre cooked many bowls. The dumplings are so juicy! I wish I had the stomach for two sets. I will be back again.

Food was delicious, the menu is very limited, but the food was excellent. the soup was so flavorful and heartwarming, and had great depth, the noodles were bouncy and soft. I personally really enjoyed the dumplings, but that may just be due to a lifelong love for dumplings anyway. They were so juicy and I loved the thin skin, flavourful filling, and the sesame oil sauce that went with it, made it so fragrant and added a whole extra layer of flavor. The cold green noodles with lots of kimchi was also really lovely, refreshing but still hearty meal. The service was super quick and efficient and we were in and out of there within a half hour.

It's a Michelin awarded restaurant, the food is just exceptional. There are only four dishes on the menu. Simple food packed with notable flavours. The place gets busy but service is efficient and quick. There's an ordering machine downstairs. You order, pay and get different coloured tickets for each food. The staff directs you to your seat, the order arrives in less than 5 minutes. Unlimited kimchi for sides. A special must when in Seoul.
