Gwanghwamun Mijin

Representative Lee Young-joo opened in 1954 and has continued to this day. You can see the charm of Mijin’s taste just by looking at the fact that it has been passed down until now with a tradition of more than 50 years. Buckwheat comes directly from Bongpyeong every day, and octopus also comes from Yeosu at dawn every day. By developing octopus dishes, you can meet warm, spicy octopus dishes and delicious and cool buckwheat dishes together. Most of the guests are family members, and many people visit, including nearby office workers, celebrities, and politicians. Buckwheat jelly with 100 percent buckwheat noodles and green onion pancakes with buckwheat noodles are also delicacies.

We went here because it was on the list of Michelin guide bib gourmand restaurants. We just happened to be in the neighborhood and we decided to go here. We did have to wait 20 minutes and put our names down. The food was good but it was slightly sweet to my taste. Everything was flavorful with the exception of being slightly sweet and the rest of my family absolutely loved it. We ordered the regular buckwheat noodles and spicy noodles with the cutlet and a side order of the pork. I gave it a four-star for the service because it is a typical Korean restaurant where they want you to know what you will order as soon as you sit down. The quantities that they give are quite generous. Overall it was a great lunch.

Not bad. Dishes were okay, but not that special. A large amount of noodles. There could be a long waiting list during the peak time.

On weekday afternoons before 2 p.m., the wait time to dine is around 40 minutes. It’s possible to go alone, but it’s more suitable for two people, as the portions are just right for sharing. Highly recommend the soba noodles—they’re delicious!

Amazing cold buckwheat soba, big size serving and great price. Service is very fast, arrived for lunch on a Monday and was seated within 15min even with 20 seats ahead of me. It’s worth the wait even with longer line.
