The area is open for the public so it is easily accessible. I had a pleasant walk along the fortress walls and had a good view of the sunset. You can see the juxtaposition between the high rise buildings and the old fortress walls. There are many cute cafes nearby if you want to rest and chill.

Was not expecting to be awed by this place.Went here as a “side-trip”, but didnt noticed inspent 3 hours in this place already. The Forteess itself is beautiful. Its like a pop of the past surrounded by the aesthetic modern shops of korea. It feels like ikseondong in seoul, but more spaceous, less crowded, and there is actually more to see here. The gardens around the fortress are beautiful.A lot of cute cafes and food choices around the area.If your a Fan of Kdrama, a lot of film locations around the area you can visit.Definitely coming back with my family here

The (mainly) C18th, UNESCO Suwon Hwaseong Fortress has, in many places, been very well preserved and incorporated into city life.In one respect it's been well-done... featuring in everyday life of the modern city- bus routes run along it, you pass through its gates whilst cross the roads etc.But in another way this prevents one from really absorbing its history. In some places you can almost feel like you're not in the city, but in most places you're standing on a thin ribbon of history that snakes through a noisy, modern city.
