소백산 천문대는 충청북도 단양군 단양읍 천동리와 경상북도 영주시 풍기읍 수철리 사이에 위치한 천문대입니다.
한국천문연구원 산하의 천문학 연구 기관으로서 소백산 연화봉에 설치되어 있습니다.
소백산 천문대는 1974년에 설립되었으며, 61cm 반사망원경과 35cm 반사망원경 등을 보유하고 있습니다.

This is an astronomical observatory located about 200 meters below Yeonhwabong Peak of Sobaeksan Mountain.At the end of 2019, it has not been opened to the public since COVID-19 (~2023. 11. 13).Before that, when it was open to the public, it was possible to receive information on the operation status of Korea's astronomical observatories and the status of Sobaeksan Observatory every 30 minutes from 13:30 to 15:30. I contacted them by phone on the date of my visit (2023.11.13 13:00) and received the above phone information. Good luck to researchers conducting astronomy research in places with difficult transportation!On the way to Birobong Peak, I briefly looked around the observatory and took some pictures.
