Lee Hyo-seok Culture Village (효석문화마을)

Hyoseok Cultural Village is a charming destination that pays homage to the life and works of renowned Korean novelist, Lee Hyo-seok. Nestled in the heart of Pyeongchang, the village offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the literary and cultural heritage of this region.

Inspired by Lee Hyo-seok’s most famous novel, “Memoire of a Sword,” the village has been carefully designed to capture the essence of rural Korea in the early 20th century. Visitors can explore traditional Korean houses, stroll through buckwheat flower fields, and experience the simple yet beautiful way of life depicted in the author’s works.

One of the highlights of the village is the Lee Hyo-seok Literary Museum. The museum houses a collection of the author’s personal belongings, manuscripts, and first editions of his novels. Visitors can learn about Lee Hyo-seok’s life and literary career, and gain a deeper appreciation for his works.

The village also offers a variety of cultural experiences, including traditional Korean performances, workshops, and festivals. Visitors can participate in activities such as making traditional Korean crafts, learning about Korean folk songs, or simply relaxing in the serene atmosphere of the village.

Nothing special. It would be nice to take a walk in the spring when the flowers bloom. Nothing educational or anything like that.

I like that there are things to see related to Lee Hyo-seok's work and buckwheat. They also hold a large event in early September when the buckwheat flowers bloom. This course involves stopping by the Lee Hyo-seok Literary Museum and the walking trail in the morning and then having a meal at a nearby restaurant. You can purchase admission tickets on site.
