성산일출봉은 약 5,000년 전에 바닷속에서 화산이 분출하면서 형성된 수성화산입니다. 분출된 뜨거운 마그마가 차가운 바닷물과 만나면서 화산재가 습기를 많이 머금어 끈끈한 성질을 띄게 되었고, 이것이 층을 이루면서 쌓인 것이 성산일출봉입니다.

성산일출봉은 빼어난 경관과 지질학적 가치를 인정받아 2007년 7월 2일 유네스코 세계자연유산으로 등재되었습니다. 특히, 일출과 일몰이 장관을 이루는 것으로 유명합니다. 일출 시에는 태양이 분화구 위로 떠오르는 장관을 감상할 수 있고, 일몰 시에는 분화구 아래로 떨어지는 태양을 감상할 수 있습니다.

성산일출봉은 등산로가 잘 조성되어 있어, 누구나 쉽게 오를 수 있습니다. 등산로를 따라 올라가면 분화구를 한눈에 내려다볼 수 있는 전망대가 있습니다. 전망대에 오르면 제주도의 아름다운 자연을 감상할 수 있습니다.

The views of Jeju are spectacular. Worth every step we were up to the top in 30 minutes. No hiking boots needed but you'll be sweating at the top

A good place to watch the sunrise. It takes about 40 minutes to walk up to the bottom of the mountain. It's better to prepare for an hour and take a break. Today is sunrise at 7:28, but there are clouds and the sun is not seen until about 7:40.

It’s different from the volcano crater I imagined, so I’m a little disappointed, but the scenery along the way up the mountain is beautiful.

If you are traveling to Jeju Island, there are many reasons to visit.First, the scenery you see in winter usually feels empty no matter where you go, but that's not the case here.Second, the view of the sea from the top is nice. You can see the blue sea and the horizon, so you can enjoy a cool, open space and a superb view.Third, you can see the charming scenery of the coastal villages at a glance.Fourth, while climbing to the top, you can see the scenery here and there and walk the trail, so it is relaxing.Lastly, there are plenty of places where you can take pictures of the scenery here and there as well as commemorative pictures with the people you came with.There is ample parking and many places to eat nearby.

The view on both sides of the submit was amazing, with the crater on one side and the sea+city on the other. The climb was of a moderate difficulty (having elderly koreans march past you with ease was a great motivator), but not too hard, and worth the effort.

Free admission is available at the coast, paid admission is available at the summit. About 10 minutes after purchasing the paid ticket, I thought, Oh, it would have been better if it had been free? But when you look down from the middle and see the sea, half of that feeling disappears, and when you look at the magnificent forest from the top, the remaining half disappears, and the paid admission ticket is worth it.. 👍

This is one of the famous places in Jeju island you must visit but you have to be strong enough because it's necessary to walk so much.And yes it's so hot if we travel in the summer but nice and cute pictures we need to trade off.Moreover this is the place I follow the most famous Korean series which most people know.You know Who?

Its a nice view and calming to hear the waves hit against the rocks below and the sunset was great. But after 6.30 it become very dark. I recommend you reach at 4-5.30 for best seeing expirience and better sun set. The ticket is free just go in.

A popular hiking spot when visiting Jeju and rightfully so! At the base of the hike there are some vendors and shops selling refreshing Hallabong juice, ice cream and souvenirs. We got the juice and have deemed it a must to enjoy during at at the top of the hike! The views were stunning and there is a nice and large resting spot. Not too intense of a hike, but definitely recommend wearing comfortable clothes.I appreciate them having lockers at the base of the hike, but it's a bit tucked away/hidden. Pretty big and spacious too.

View @ Seongsan Ilchulbong..This picturesque world heritage site has vast green slopes, blue sky and sea, white clouds, and cooling breeze..Rising 180 meters above the sea, the 'Sunrise Peak' forms a tuff cone with a bowl-shaped crater, displaying diverse cliff structures. Considered to hold great geological importance..The medium slope take about an hour to ascend and descend, suitable even for those with slightly less than moderate fitness..At the foot of the mountain are the haenyeo / women divers, known for their fierce independence and iron will. They harvest fresh seafood from the ocean, which guests can sample raw.

This is a very famous place to visit for all including local and tourist. If you planning to come and visit here please come earlier and plan your time, to avoid crowded with others untill no space for you to take a good and beautiful photo. If excluding the excessive crow, this will be a nice place for relaxing and clean you busy mind because here have some beautiful view... It should control the crow to avoid messing the place.

Great quick hike up on top! (490 steps, I counted haha) The trail is very well maintained! Beautiful crater covered in so much vegetation, it looks absolutely stunning. The view is great! You have to check it out!Best part though was watching the free diver presentation right next to this amazing mountain. (Go left instead of right by the entrance) The show is at 2 pm every day. Amazing what those female divers endured during some tough times and are still kicking butt! They are an inspiration! They caught an octopus with their bare hands during the presentation I watched. So impressive!! Check out my photos! ❤️
