Sanbangsan, explored in February in Jeju, was a captivating natural wonder steeped in cultural significance. The majestic peak, formed by volcanic activity, offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, despite the cooler winter temperatures. The trek up the mountain provided an invigorating experience, showcasing unique rock formations and diverse flora along the way. While the weather limited some outdoor activities, the Sanbangsan area was a serene and spiritual retreat. The nearby temple and the majestic Sanbanggulsa Cave added depth to the visit, providing insight into the island's cultural heritage. Sanbangsan in February was a scenic marvel, offering a glimpse into Jeju's geological and cultural splendor.

* Note: if you're driving in Jeju, you should download the Naver maps that has english navigations guidance available; google maps does not provide navigation in Korea. If you require driving tips/guide in jeju, go to my profile and look for my review for lotte rent a car auto house. *👍:-Very beautiful views of the coastal area from the temple. The temple is just a short walk up.-There is a souvenir shop at the base of the mountain where you can buy drinks and all👎:-If you park right infront of the souvenir shop at the base of the mountain, the shop owner will come and collect parking fee from you. However if you park elsewhere along the sides of the road then it's free.

This is quite an epic sight to behold. Its only 200 metres tall, but there is something about it that draws you to it. The surrounding scenery is spectacular with the sea so close by. We missed the Canola season just by a few days. So couldn't get the perfect pic. I had destroyed my knees having climbed Hallasan a couple of days before visiting here, so didn't venture higher and stopped at the temple.

The mountain and rock formation itself is wonderous too see but you can see it from just about anywhere nearby in its entirety as it is a giant 400m high fixture. However, I thought the path would allow you to go up to the top but it just is closed from 2012 to 2021 for preservation. It is only 1000won entry, but only takes about 25 minutes to go all the way up and back down (~100m) and just a small Buddhist temple and cave that you can look at along the way.Good for a quick stop, grab some photos but don't expect to climb to the top.
