깡깡이예술마을은 부산광역시 영도구에 위치한 예술마을입니다. 2015년에 개관했으며, 과거 조선소였던 곳을 예술 공간으로 재생했습니다.

This is a place where you can see the history of Yeongdo related to repair shipbuilding. There is a repair shipyard that is still in operation, so you can see ships being put on the market for repairs, and there are also old restaurants nearby. It would be nice to go on the weekend.

The administrative name of the neighborhood is ‘Namhang-dong, Yeongdo-gu, Busan’. Two water docks are filled with ships, and about a dozen repair shipyards are in operation. The name ‘Kangkkang’ originated from the sound of ‘kangkkang’ made when the surface of a ship is tapped with a hammer at a repair shipyard.Daepyeong-dong, Yeongdo-gu, Busan, known as the Kangkang Art Village, was originally called Pungbalpo, which means rising with energy as if the wind blows, or Daepungpo, meaning a place where fishing boats stayed to avoid strong winds. It is said that after liberation from Japanese colonial rule, it was called Daepyeong-dong by changing the word ‘pung’ to ‘pyeong’ in hopes that the waves and wind would become calm.Busan Port opened in 1876, and in the late 19th century, Tanaka Shipbuilding Iron Works, the first modern shipyard in Korea, was established by Kiyoshi Tanaka. Afterwards, land reclamation work was carried out and various ship parts stores were concentrated in Daepyeong-dong, allowing it to take advantage of the deep-sea fishing boom during the industrialization period of the 1970s and 1980s and to become a mecca for the repair and shipbuilding industry. At this time, the economy in Daepyeong-dong was so good that it was said that “even dogs were carrying 10,000 won bills in their mouths.”Daepyeong-dong, which was booming, declined in the 1980s along with the slump in the shipbuilding industry. I'm seeing Google reviews with one star, and the explanation they provide is both shocking and saddening. It's insane to discover that these people have no knowledge about the history of this site! It's too bad it's not Lotte World or another guided amusement park. You are experiencing an environment with genuine sounds, real people, and real smells, which deserves five stars on its own.Please go to Lotte World Adventure if you can't handle authentisity and craftmanship. For all others, this is an amazing place. Also the Korean Drama "My Name" was filmed in this location too.

Unique atmosphere. The more you see it, the more attractive it is. You can get on the ship as well! please ask to the information centre. Worth a visit.
