Bongeunsa Temple is a prominent Buddhist temple located in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea, directly across the street from the COEX Mall. With a history spanning over 1,200 years, it was founded in 794 CE during the Silla Dynasty. Originally named Gyeonseongsa, it was later renamed Bongeunsa in 1498 during the Joseon Dynasty. During the Joseon Dynasty, it was the largest temple in Seoul and became a central temple for the Seon (Zen) school of Buddhism.
