There is no lotus in the pond besides the road currently. If you plan to visit here, you might to change you schedule. Although, there are flowers in another pond next to the main pond. That seems private! The owner can not speak English and just asked me out politely. Wish this information is helpful for those plan to here.

Before, it felt like a pond called Yeonhwaji, but after the pond was changed with the addition of a fountain, I visited for the first time. There are dead fish floating here and there and the water is green...Most of the large lotus flowers are gone, and there is only a section with small lotus flowers on one side of the entrance.I don't think it should be called Yeonhwaji anymore... It just feels like a local fountain park, so the unique feel has disappeared. All that's left is a small lotus flower that's smaller than the face in the picture. It's not worth stopping by on purpose just to see that, so stop by if you're passing by.

It's a good place for a quick walk, but the condition of the pond is polluted because it hasn't been maintained in general, so it doesn't look very good. It's a shame that maintenance was neglected, as the grass grows and blocks the passage. What's most surprising is that there were turtles living there all the time.

There are no lotus flowers, but it is cozy and good for a walk. It would be better if there were lotus flowers than Cheong Turtle Bangsaeng.

Lotus PondHagari, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, is the largest pond in Jeju. The area is about 10,000㎡ (3,000 pyeong). In the past, lotus flowers were in full bloom and the view was spectacular in the summer.Due to the carelessness of some people nearby, the lotus flower was destroyed, making it impossible to see its beautiful appearance. There are lotus flowers left in the small pond near the entrance. The inside of the pond appears to be a green algae phenomenon, with a green tea latte appearance and dead carp floating on the water. The banner said, "Please note that the lotus stems have been destroyed due to the release of green turtles by seniors, preventing lotus flowers from growing, so you will not be able to see lotus flowers until the green turtle eradication is complete."June 2022. Hagari OfficeThere is a legend behind the creation of the pond here...During the reign of King Chungnyeol of the Goryeo Dynasty, the pond was the site of a bandit's home, where they built a large tile-roofed house and plundered passers-by. One day, a plot was hatched to attack the new judge's traveling party. An old man named Ttukhalmang, who lived in the village, informed the government of this fact and the bandits were eradicated. At this time, when the old man Ttukhalmang died, the government recognized the old woman's loyalty. It is said that in honor of him, he was given a government post and made to be revered as a deity of Jeju Hyanggyo. After this, they tore down the tile-roofed houses where the bandits lived and dug a pond to catch rainwater for washing clothes and to use it as a watering pond for cows and horses.Through extensive repair work in the 17th century, the pond with edible smoke was built for drinking water, the large pond for watering cows and washing, and the sink for washing vegetables. In 1966, Yeonhwa Pond was designated as a fishing spot on Jeju Island and operated until the 1990s.It is not known exactly when the lotus was planted in the pond, but it is said that in the mid-19th century, Jeju pastor Han Eung-ho made alcohol with lotus petals, drank it, recited poetry, and had his adoptive mother take care of the lotus during his inspection.Additionally, in the history of the pond built in the village, it is recorded that lotus flowers were planted by the ‘Jaebusan Haga Community Association’ in 1949 when the embankment construction was in progress. It is a rare place in Jeju Island where you can see lotus flowers, but unfortunately, it is now in ruins due to the extermination of green turtles. I hope that it will be restored to its original state as soon as possible.

It's a quiet and pretty teahouse. The owner is a laughter therapist, so the writing is good, and all the props are handmade by the owner and are said to be used for the less fortunate. Be sure to visit once and you'll be in a good mood.

Although it is not a very large place, it is kept clean by the village residents.I visited on a day when it was raining lightly, and I was very happy to be greeted by a large and humble lotus flower. It's a great place to sit for a while in the octagonal pavilion and feel the cool breeze while refreshing your eyes and your mind.
