It was previously a Rotary, but during Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-bak's second term in May 2004, it was converted into a plaza and became a valuable sanctuary for Seoul citizens.A place where various cultural events are held throughout the year, including a skating rink in the winter and a book garden in the spring and fall.Although he pays a low fare through the bus-subway transfer system, gets off at City Hall Station, looks around Seoul Plaza, and walks along Cheonggyecheon, Lee Myung-bak still doesn't want to die soon.

A really interesting area in Seoul where demonstrations take place due to the location being in front of the city hall. There's usually something going on activity wise and worth checking out. During my visit there was an outdoor library set up for free.

Had fun during New Year 2023 ice skating at Seoul Plaza. Fun and exciting and it only cost KRW 1000 including skates. But mind you, the skates are not in good condition considering heavy usage. After skating, there is a nice cafe beside the rink to enjoy a hot cup of cocoa.

It’s a great spot! I usually avoid walking on the grass, but it’s nice to see some green! Also, the library is there, Deoksugung is there, Gwanghwamun is there, Cheonggyecheon is there, food is there, drinks are there, and now it’s broadcasting the virtues of wearing a mask for mitigating virus spread. 🇰🇷💪🏻

Watch out for the scam monks. I dont know if they're real or not but they hit up tourists for money for rebuilding their temple or something along those lines. They're all over the place here. I gave one of them some, one day not because I didn't know their catch but because she was on me faster than a fly on flapjacks and I wanted her gone. I've been on guard for them ever since though.I dont know if there's a lot happening here on a regular basis but right now is Street Arts Festival so there's a lot happening and this area is just wonderful.

Seoul Plaza is a square shaped plaza with a an open-ground space in its centre. Situated next to City Hall in the hear of downtown Seoul, this is where free shows, concerts and other events are held throughout the year. There is even a ice-rink during winter holiday season.During our last visit (October 2017), we found Seoul Plaza ground to be in a bit poor shape. The grounds were well-trodden upon with much more dirt/mud surface than grass. It was much preferable walking on the pavement around the plaza than directly upon the centre ground space.A stage had been setup on the pavement area next to the City Hall, where a dance performance of sorts was taking place. Plenty of seats were set up but the event seemed to have only attracted a small audience. We took watch for a few minutes before being on our way.In the end, it really depends on what is on schedule when it comes to Seoul Plaza. Best to check the Seoul Plaza website to find out what is on during the time of your visit. Or when passing through the area, just have a quick look to see if anything interesting is taking place.
